Mildred W. Seydel Scholarship

Purpose

To provide scholarships to students majoring in journalism, preferably with a print media or broadcast media concentration.

Scholarship Criteria

Eligibility for this scholarship shall be limited to the following:

• Students must be rising juniors,seniors, or graduate students currently enrolled at Georgia State University.
• Students must be journalism majors, preferably with a print media or broadcast media concentration.
• Students must be member of the GSU chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists/Sigma Delta Chi and/or a member of the GSU chapter of Women in Communications.
• Students must hold and maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or better.
• A 500 word autobiographical essay telling why the student is pursuing a journalism career must accompany each application.
• Two letters of recommendation from college authorities must accompany each application, and at least one letter must be from a journalism professor.
