Glenn A. Vergason Scholarship for Special Education
Purpose
To provide support to graduate level students who meet the requirements and are pursuing a M.Ed. or Ph.D. in the GSU College of Education, Department of Educational Psychology and Special Education, with plans to teach or serve those students who have learning and behavioral disorders in Special Education. Funds will be awarded on a semester basis and are contingent on the recipient meeting academic requirements of the degree program. Applicants pursuing the M.Ed. degree are eligible to receive $1,000 for each academic year for a period of two years. Applicants pursuing the Ph.D. degree are eligible to receive $1,500 for each academic year for a period of two years.
Scholarship Criteria
- Applicants must submit a letter of application for the scholarship.
- Two letters of recommendation (one from a college instructor and one from an employer or work supervisor).
- A statement that describes the applicant´s planned course of study and sources of income to support the plan (i.e., a list of courses to be taken each semester, estimate of costs, and financial support available to complete the degree).
- 500-word essay detailing how a scholarship will help recipient to achieve their educational or career goals.
